Presents

by Aurand Harris

A moment of silence please for the introduction of the world’s most distinguished magician, trickster and entertainer, the Monkey King… (cue banana peel on sidewalk) …SPLAT!  For hundreds of years, legends and stories concerning the fabulous Monkey King have been an integral part of the cultural fabric of Asian life.  Presented in the style of Chinese Story Theatre with live music, minimal properties, pantomimed action and extraordinary physical performance, these short pieces of comedy, drama, poetry and adventure are linked by a beguiling monkey with an insatiable appetite for fun.  Using his magical powers to aid heroes and heroines, defeat villains and spice up a dull afternoon, the character of the Monkey King embraces the bold, free-wheeling spirit in every human soul.  Go Ape!
