Due to mature subject matter and language this
PRINCIPLE ROLES All Actors for the principle roles must be high level triple threat performers, able to demonstrate strong ballet and jazz technique. Knowledge of original choreography a plus. These are very brief descriptions and are NOT set in stone.. THE BOYS Zach: 29-35, charismatic, manipulative. always appears in complete control personally and professionally
Paul 28, Puerto Rican, rough past, early sexual encounters with strangers in 42nd street movie houses, mocked at school for being effeminate and quit. Strong Dancer with a beautiful voice
Mike: 24, Italian, short to medium height, charismatic. As a kid, he went along to sister's dance classes and discovered he was even better.Acrobtics a PLUS, must sing extremely well
Bobby: 25, Good Looking, energetic, funny, one of those kids who gave free garage performances, never fulfilled his father's hopes that he would be an athlete
Al: 30, Kristine's husband, Italian from the Bronx working class, with accent.Strong Dancer, must sing well
Richie: 27, African American, charismatic, energetic. Must sing and dance well
Mark 20, good-looking, high energy, innocent, all-American, shares funny, innocent sexual memories, eager to please, wants the job
Greg: 32, Jewish Eastsider, droll and witty, confident in his homosexuality. Must sing well
Larry: 27, Zach's Assistant and Dance Captain, bright, confident and upbeat. Strong Dancer, with excellent musicality and timing THE GIRLS Cassie: 31, Talented, standout dancer with an established reputation, (2 Broadway featured roles), who needs a job, concentrating on her true passion, dance.. Must sing extremely well..
Diana: 27, Puerto Rican, Energetic and Warm. Attended the High School of the performing Arts and survived, despite being told she wasn't cut out for show business. Must sing and dance extremely well
Sheila: 29, Strong, assertive, troubled, her sharp tongue and quick wit hides her fears about facing 30 and no longer being able to dance in the chorus
Val: 25, Cute, adorable, vivacious, dreamed of being a Rockette. Must sing extremely well
Kristine: 22, fantastic, innate dancer from childhood but not a great singer, high strung, her nerves get the better of her at auditions, married to Al
Bebe: 26, Jewish, comedienne and singer, grew up hearing she looked different and looked to ballet to make her feel beautiful. Must sing extremely well
Judy: 28, tall, thin, comedienne, slightly daffy, loveable quality, high strung
Connie: 32, usually played by an Asian Actress, never tall enough to be a ballerina, works frequently playing notable younger roles
Maggie: 25, Sweet, girl-next-door, overcame a trying childhood, fantasized about dancing around the house with and indian/chief father figure. Must be a strong singer with a pure belt E above middle C
