The Laity Theatre Company, founded in 1989, is a workshop
ensemble. We are actors, writers and directors. However, no matter
what artistic expertise a member possesses we are all creators and
producers. The reality of theatre is there is a wide gap between
those who want to 'create' theatre and those who want to 'produce'
it. That is why all LTC members are required to produce in addition
to perform. Having the benefit of a resident space, The Lab,
presents great opportunity to create and produce our own unique
projects.
The Lab is a small 40 seat experimental space designed to create and
test new material for the theatre in addition to provide a rehearsal
and performance space
for already established works of the theatre. Use of the Lab is for
members only.
We are looking for excellent (serious) Actors, Writers, Directors
who:
-
Have an unwavering dedication to Theatre as an art form.
-
Are looking to grow artistically beyond their current level
-
Are truly committed to creating original, innovative theatre.
-
Are patient, generous, humble and committed to the collaborative
process
-
Are willing to "push the envelope" to bring high-art to the
stage.
Note:
Laity has no rules against members being apart of other local
theatre groups. It is our desire to help elevate the artistry of all
local companies through our workshops, classes and productions.
Therefore, if you have no reservations about becoming a member, we
don’t either. However, if you feel joining will cause you a problem,
you are welcome to take classes.
